Description
I found this little guy sprawled on the trail in the cold and thought he was dead, but I picked him up to put it off the trail and saw it move very slowly. So I wrapped him in photo napkins and put him in my pack and hiked three miles down to my truck. When I got there and opened my pack low and behold the eyes were open. So then came the next hurdle and that was feeding. Had no clue what kind of bird it was seed eater, insect eater so I used protein powder mixed with water and it worked. Little stinker really came to life and was chirping and pooping all over. Anyways a friend of mine found a bird refuge in Oregon and to my knowledge the little squirt was doing quite well.

Nice photo op of the aftermath of your rescue, as it look much warmer and more comfy than before. Thanks again, Jeff, for sharing this moment and photo shot with us.

Good for you, Jeff. I heard it has gotten very cold in Washington. Probably fell out of its warm nest.
Jeff Swan replied:
I think either a crow had gotten it or the wind blew it out as it was windy that day. But knowing the keeper of the refuge i bet it is almost so fat it can barely fly now lol
