Description
Nooksack Falls, located near the Mount Baker Scenic Byway, also known as Highway 542, drops 88 feet via two plumes before snaking its way through a deep gorge. The waterfall, a product of meltwater from the glaciated slopes of Mount Shuksan, begins as the easy flowing North Fork of the Nooksack Rivercascading through open mountain scenery and winding through old growth forest before free falling from the cliffs edge. In order to reach the falls, follow Wells Creek Road #33, also signed as Nooksack Falls, approximately 2/3 of a mile to the parking lot and kiosk located just before the bridge that spans the riverfrom the parking lot, hike the short trail on the right leading to the viewpoint. The only safe views, although slightly obstructed, are from the fenced area at the end of the trailonce at the treed bluff, enjoy the power of the Nooksack River before retracing your steps back to the car.
